A66 repairs to take place

A £356,000 Highways Agency project to repair and resurface a section of the A66 near Penrith in Cumbria will start next Monday (9 September).

The project, which is due to be completed by 19 September, involves repairing the foundations of the eastbound carriageway along two miles between Kemplay Roundabout east of Penrith and Brougham.

Both lanes of the eastbound carriageway will benefit from the work which will also include resurfacing and new road markings.

All the work will be done overnight between 8pm and 6am and one lane of the dual carriageway will remain open to drivers at all times. A single lane closure will remain in place during the day for safety reasons.

Highways Agency project sponsor Peter Gee said: ''This is an important repairs project to iron out carriageway defects and give road users a smoother, safer road experience.”
