Costain has appointed Ann-Marie Morrison from within the company to replace Simon Ellison as its National Highways client director.
Mr Ellison has announced that he is to leave the construction giant this week after 25 years working for the firm.
Ms Morrison (pictured, right) was appointed as Costain’s client delivery director for Network Rail in March 2021.
A spokesperson for Costain said, ‘We have appointed Ann-Marie Morrison, previously our client delivery director for Network Rail, to the National Highways client director position. Ann-Marie brings a wealth of experience including working at Heathrow and the London Olympics.
‘Ann-Marie takes over from Simon Ellison who has decided to leave the company at the end of this week and we wish him well for the future.
‘We continue to work in partnership with National Highways to deliver critical improvements to the UK’s infrastructure.’
Mr Ellison (pictured, below) wrote on LinkedIn: ‘It’s been an absolute privilege and a pleasure working with so many brilliant people, learning my trade as a Graduate Engineer and going on to lead great teams, great projects, and key areas of the business.
‘A massive thank you to Costain and all the people that have inspired, supported, and empowered me to go and make a difference to the world and people’s lives.
‘Proud memories I’ll take with me as I look forward to the next chapter in my life and career.’
It has also been reported that Costain’s highways operations director, Darren Dobson, who has been at the firm since 2007 is also set to leave.
The firm declined to comment on Mr Dobson’s situation.
The announcements follow news that National Highways is compensating Costain and WSP for work on a proposed upgrade to a stretch of the M62 after the project was cancelled amidst rising concerns over cost shortly before work was due to start.
