A coroner has called for road safety improvements through a village where a boy died after being knocked down while crossing for his school bus.
Alex Bradley, 12, was hit by a car and a van on the A64 near West Heslerton, North Yorkshire, in January 2011.
North Yorkshire East Coroner Michael Oakley recorded a narrative verdict.
He said steps should be taken to reduce speeds on the 60mph road, the main York to Scarborough route, and crossings at bus stops would also improve safety.
Mr Oakley, who described the road as fast and extremely busy, said he would make his recommendations in writing to the Highways Agency and Department for Transport.
Traffic Sgt John Clayton, from North Yorkshire Police, said the case had been a difficult one to work on.
"It's been a tragic set of circumstances to all involved," he said.
"The events of that morning no parent wants to live with and certainly no driver wants to be confronted with.
"Today hopefully it's brought closure to all involved in that incident."
A Highways Agency spokesman told the BBC it would "give careful consideration to any written recommendations from the coroner following this tragic accident on the A64".
