Galliford Try has appointed Richard Towse as commercial director within its highways business.
The firm said he will be responsible for growing its market share in the highways sector, ‘a key focus of the Group’s Sustainable Growth Strategy’, leading on commercial activities and overseeing relationships with key clients.
Mr Towse has more than 30 years’ experience in construction, the last 20 of which have been in senior positions in the civil engineering industry. Most recently, he was commercial director at VolkerStevin. He has also carried out senior roles for Carillion, Alfred McAlpine, Balfour Beatty and Morgan Sindall.

He takes over from the David Bates, who will remain with the business until the end of December.
Last month Galliford Try also announced that Alison Chippington and Ondrej Humplik would join the business as pre-construction director and partnership director for the group’s National Highways RDP Framework respectively.
