Hayes appointed new IHE chief executive

Richard Hayes has been appointed as the new chief executive of the Institute of Highway Engineers (IHE). 


Mr Hayes will start his new role next month and takes over from outgoing chief executive Stephen Palmer, who is stepping down after four years in the post.

He is a long standing member of the IHE, a former president of the Institute and has been instrumental in leading the Institute on winter competency standards and training. He has also been vital to the expansion of IHE’s role within the industry and will continue to ensure that it is at the forefront of new developments.

Mr Hayes brings over 35 years experience to the post and was most recently working as a highways consultant with local authorities.  He is also a member of the Highways Magazine editorial board.
