JET marks 25th anniversary

Road planing company JET Plant Hire is celebrating its 25th anniversary.

A family run business, JET started with a single employee and one machine working on the Isle of Wight. This week the business commissioned its 81st planer and employs 114 staff.

The company has worked on a number of projects over the years including milling Bristol’s Clifton Suspension Bridge, which required the lightest planers in the fleet to remove 120 tonnes of asphalt; right through to planing 270,000m² of asphalt on the M48 in a tight eight-week programme.

Managing director Sean Witheford said: “2015 marks a significant milestone in our company’s history. We are proud of our trading heritage, of our continued commitment to innovation within the road planing industry and of our relationships with our customers and suppliers. We are equally proud of the outstanding achievement from our dedicated colleagues – a great reflection of the passion we share for customer service, quality and professionalism."
