L&R Roadlines lands Mersey Gateway job

L&R Roadlines has been awarded a major contract to provide a range of permanent road marking solutions as part of the new £600m Mersey Gateway project. 

The company will provide road markings, cats-eyes and anti-skid treatments for over 38km of new road lanes that form part of the project, including the new six-lane toll bridge that will run between the towns of Runcorn and Widnes.

The new bridge will provide a second road crossing over the Mersey 1.5km to the east of the congested and ageing Silver Jubilee Bridge and form the centrepiece of a new and improved high standard link road that connects the national motorway network at junction 12 of the M56 in North Cheshire with the A562 Speke Road in Merseyside.

A spokesperson for Merseylink Civil Contractors said: “This contract was awarded to L&R Roadlines as it could demonstrate the experience and expertise required to meet the tight project timescales. The company has also showed an enthusiastic approach to working closely in partnership with our technical teams, providing advice and guidance on the most appropriate temporary and permanent marking solutions including hydroblast removal and TexBand road crack and joint treatments.”
