Lafarge Tarmac awarded works in Warrington and Halton

Contractor Lafarge Tarmac has been awarded all highways works in the boroughs of Warrington and Halton for the next six years.

Both borough councils have joined forces in awarding the work which will range from filling in potholes to major resurfacing schemes.

Lafarge Tarmac was due to start work in Halton on 1 June with works in Warrington phased until April 2014.

Speaking to Cheshire Today, John Stockton, Halton Borough Council’s portfolio holder for transportation, said: “The award (of the contract) is the culmination of a successful joint procurement exercise undertaken by both councils with a view to securing further administrative and operational efficiencies in the delivery of highway services and improving the condition of our highway infrastructure.”
