M602 improvement works to take place

An £800,000 Highways Agency project to tackle wear and tear along the M602 in Greater Manchester will start next week.

The road links Manchester and Salford with the rest of the North West motorway network and is one of the most important commuter routes in the region so all of the work will be done overnight to minimise any inconvenience to drivers.

The work will include resurfacing, drainage repairs, lighting renewal and refreshing road markings along parts of both carriageways and slip roads between junction one at Eccles Interchange with the M62 and M60 and junction three at Regent Road roundabout at Salford.

The work will start on Monday (9 December) and should be completed by 13 April.

Highways Agency project sponsor Jakub Malaj said: “This is one of the busiest commuter routes in the region and this important project will ensure drivers can continue to enjoy safe, smooth and reliable journeys in and out of Manchester and Salford.”
