Manchester confirms places (but not spend) on 5 specialist frameworks

Contractors have been named on five specialist highways frameworks set up by Manchester City Council.

Thermal Road Repairs secured a place on Lot 1, which is worth around £14m and covers patching and large repairs.

The company celebrated becoming 'the first PAS2080 accredited specialist low carbon SME' on the framework, historically.  Its system delivers an '85% reduction in carbon emissions compared to traditional methods because it reuses failed material, which also means it generates zero waste', the company said.

The council is not committing to an overall expected spend for the frameworks.

A council spokesperson told Highways: 'There's no firm figure on this as the projects are based on capacity and some companies may not end up receiving any projects.'

Also on Lot 1 were Hopkins and Bethell, which landed a place on all five of the frameworks.

Other contractors winning places include Ventbrook for patching and out of hours repairs, Sapphire Utilities Solutions for gully cleansing and Rosgal for drainage repairs, improvements and trash screens.
