Hampshire County Council has awarded Milestone Infrastructure a five-year extension to its highway services contract, taking the deal to 2029.
The original contract - for seven years with a possibility of a five-year extension - was awarded in 2017 to Skanska’s infrastructure services business, which was rebranded as Milestone when it was acquired by M Group Services.
At the time, the deal was valued at up to £1.5bn, including the potential for additional works beyond routine highway maintenance.
Milestone said it has since delivered over £350m of highway services for the benefit of local communities and businesses in the county and will be continuing its collaborative partnership with the council, operating as Hampshire Highways.
It said the next six years will see Hampshire Highways continuing to develop a joint approach to reducing carbon, with a target of 40% reduction in carbon intensity by 2025 and 60% by 2030.

‘Milestone is committed to building on the excellent service already delivered in Hampshire and our focus is to continue to make great strides in carbon reduction and investing further in the county’s highway network as well as local communities.’
Milestone said highway maintenance contacts in Oxfordshire, Devon and Peterborough have all renewed in the last year.
