New travel portal joint venture announced

Elgin, provider of the UK's largest roadworks database, has announced a new joint venture with TransportAPI, one of the country's leading providers of transport and travel apps.?
The two companies have combined to produce the first integrated (roads and public transport) local travel information services delivered off a national platform.
Elgin will deliver shared services into the public sector and TransportAPI will deliver integrated data services into the consumer market.
Transport API is Britain’s first comprehensive open platform for transport solutions with over 200 developers building on their platform.
Jonathan Raper, founder of TransportAPI and a member of the Government's transport transparency board, said: "It is only now that we are beginning to see the first practical demonstrations of open data. By combining our integrated transport datasets, which include live bus and train information, with the national platform established by Elgin we are on the way to creating a seamless integration of all modes of transport data."
