Osborne lands £1.6m highways deal

A £1.6 million contract that will see improvements made to a key section of the A176 in Essex has been awarded to Osborne.

Work on the 800m section of the A176 between the Hospital Roundabout and the Roundacre Roundabout in Basildon, Essex, will be carried out without closing the road or affecting services to the hospital.

Work on the contract, which was awarded by Essex County Council, will start in September and is expected to be completed within six months.

The work will see improvements to the junction layout, removal of the central reserve and widening of both north and southbound carriageways. In addition, traffic signals, signs, lighting and road markings will be renewed.

Customer programme manager Jamie Harrison said: “Osborne have a great deal of experience within their sectors in carrying out projects without interrupting business as usual. Careful planning and reviews, as well as maintaining a strong working relationship with the hospital, and surrounding communities, will ensure we deliver these works as efficiently as possible.”
