SIB 2016: Blakedale unveil new IPV

Blakedale is showcasing its latest 18 tonne Impact Protection Vehicle (IPV) at Highways SIB (Seeing is Believing) from 9-10 November.

The new high roof Iveco model not only offers a roomier interior – with cross cab access and additional space for three occupants – it has been specifically upgraded to offer improved safety for road workers at day or night and in all weather conditions.

To reduce the risk of slips, trips and falls, Blakedale’s bespoke traffic management body ensures operatives have three points of contact when climbing onto the rear of the body.

The IPV is equipped with a fully recordable multi-camera system with cab-mounted monitor, covering virtually every angle of the vehicle, as standard. Although the primary purpose of this technology is to enable drivers to see oncoming traffic from all directions by eliminating any blind spots, it is providing further value by recording high definition quality evidence of any accidents, incidents or near misses that occur around the vehicle or within the working area.

Optional live-stream software enables the tracking and monitoring of multiple vehicles via an online app, which Blakedale customers can download and access on their computers and mobile devices.

“As with all our vehicles, we have designed our latest IPV to make the job of working on the UK’s roads safer. We look forward to demonstrating the features and benefits of our new vehicle to visitors at this year’s Highways SIB event,” says Richard Smith, joint Managing Director of Blakedale.

Richard and the team will be on hand throughout the event to answer questions about this and other vehicles offered within its expanding fleet, which will number over 300 vehicles operating nationwide by the end of 2017.
