Works start on Stafford western access route

Work has started on a scheme that will ease town centre congestion in Stafford.

 Plans for the Stafford western access route were approved in November last year and now the first trial piles will be installed along one section. This will enable the project team to draw up final designs and ensure it can minimise noise and vibration from the construction work.

Staffordshire County Council’s economy, environment and transport leader Mark Winnington said: “These are the first works for the Stafford western access route and will enable us to finalise the design whilst exploring options to reduce the impact of the main works by finding the best way to build the new road. We have listened to the concerns of locals and we will continue to inform nearby residents throughout the works. We can assure them that every effort will be made to minimise the impact and disruption to the local area.”
